20 What?
20-somethings? 20-everythings? 20-who-cares is more like it. Right?
But we can’t seem to drop it. Its all about the 20-somethings. They’re moving back in with their parents in real life and on TV. They’re entering the workforce (or at least trying) with their annoying idealism and social networking savvy. They’re even taking up some 17 printed pages in the NY Times Magazine. What the hell? Why do we give a shit about these 20-somethings?
Let’s get something clear here. When I say “they” what I really mean is “we.” I, myself, am in the midst of my 20’s and that is 100% of the reason why I give a shit. But while I am here, in my 20s ( ie. trying to keep my head above water financially, trying to figure out the trajectory of my professional life, trying to maintain and cultivate relationships all while holding on to my youthful idealism with a death grip), I get the feeling I’m not alone.
So, I’m curious, what is it about our 20s that is so damn interesting? What is it about these 20-somethings and the world we live in that’s so damn interesting? Or better, is it even interesting? I don’t know, but I am curious.
